L’Adroit, Новейший французский сторожевик класса Gowind вышел на испытания

The French Navy has begun sea trials with L’Adroit, the new Gowind class offshore patrol boat built by shipbuilder DCNS with its own funding. Offshore patrol boat designed for maritime safety & security missions

The two day sea trials that began July 27, 2011 validated the seakeeping and other nautical qualities of the vessel. The vessel has been loaned to the French Navy for these trials. According to DCNS the first report was very positive, the OPV successfully passed all the scheduled trials: tests of the inertial platform (positioning), of the propulsion system, of the ship’s navigation system (log, position, heading) and the ship’s fire-fighting. “The crew really enjoyed the 360° panoramic visibility from the bridge and the comfort it brings” says Yannick Bian, DCNS architect in charge of the OPV programme. On board, the feedback has been unanimous: “the manoeuvrability of L’Adroit is amazing”. Gowind OPV L’Adroit managed to show a lot of its innovative qualities. An other key point is acquired: the 22 knots speed was reached. The next sea trials will be conducted in September.

The Gowind OPV programme launched by DCNS 14 months ago. When the vessel returns to dock, outfitting of the last equipment compartments and painting work will continue. According to Gowind OPV programme manager Marc Maynard the vessel’s construction is scheduled for completion by DCNS at the end of 2011, within the 24 month goal set by the company.
